Panoramic photography has long been considered a niche area of photography due to the specialized equipment needed. This is no longer the case. Modern imaging applications have made it possible for even the casual photo enthusiast to generate stunning vistas.

Remarkable detail can be achieved by making a series of slightly overlapped individual photos and then importing them into an imaging program like Photoshop, which "stitches" them together seamlessly. With this genre though, it's not enough to pick an interesting locale - one must also locate the ultimate vantage point from which to view it.
